HORSHAM , PA … In an effort to meet a growing demand for quality glass bottles for the wine and spirits industry, Saxco International, Inc. has opened a new office in Qingdao , China in the heart of a major glass manufacturing region.  Hugh Davis, Saxco’s director of supply chain management made the announcement today, indicating that this is the company’s first office in the Far East .

            “By opening in close proximity to reliable and qualified glass suppliers we are able to meet our high standards for quality bottles and on-time delivery putting ourselves in a position for a long-term strategic competitive advantage,” explains Davis .  “By adding Far Eastern suppliers to our broad cordon of American and European vendors we are able to compete more aggressively in a global economy.”

            In announcing the Qingdao office, Davis says that Joyce Wu has been appointed chief representative for that region.  She will have the overall day-to-day responsibility for overseeing project management, supplier management and quality control. 

            Prior to being appointed at Saxco International, she was also employed as a director of U-Combination Technology in Jinan , China .  She has some 10 years experience in project management and marketing. Wu is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and English and has a bachelor’s of arts degree and a masters of public administration from National Taiwan University .  She is a native of Taiwan .
