Saxco International Signs A $25-million, five year contract with McCormick Inc. to Supply a Range of Bottles for the Distiller’s Entire Product Line

Saxco International Inc. today announced here that it has signed a $25-million, five year contract to supply a range of PET bottles for McCormick Inc.’s entire product line.

Herbert L. Sachs, president of Saxco International, world-wide packaging specialists for the wine and spirits industry, states that his company will provide a series of new custom-designed plastic bottles to be used for the distiller’s 30 plus brands.  McCormick Inc., with headquarters in Weston, MO., offers a broad product line featuring vodkas, gins, whiskies, tequilas, scotches, brandies, rums, margarita mixes and more.

“While it is unusual for a distiller to make such extensive use of plastic for the bottling of spirits, McCormick has been actively and effectively doing it for a long time,” Sachs states.

“It’s less expensive, easier to utilize in production, there’s no breakage in bottling, and is lighter that glass, therefore, making it less costly to ship to our customers,” explains McCormick President and Chief Operating Officer Jim Zargo.

Saxco sourced the 50mL, 200mL, 375mL and 1-Liter and 1.75-Liter custom designed PET bottles from a Canadian manufacturer.

McCormick also redesigned labels for its overall line, adding to the decorative aspect of its packaging of its fine spirits.  “This project provided us with an opportunity to upgrade our products through the utilization of a more private type of packaging, along with a lower cost and better service from our supplier,” Zargo notes.
